Dan Maurer is a screenwriter, author, marketing consultant and award‐winning theater director. His most recent screenwriting work, a psychological thriller titled SNOWBLIND, has been named an Austin Film Festival Finalist, a Page Awards Semi-Finalist, and a Final Draft and Scriptapalooza Quarter-Finalist. The script has also been highly ranked on The Black List site, which calls it "a riveting and fast-paced thriller that twists and turns its way to the very end."

Dan writes grounded, character‐driven thrillers. His voice has been called cinematic, authentic, layered, and a mix of Tony Gilroy and Frank Darabont. He's a writer who likes to explore the secrets beneath the surface of his characters. Dan is comfortable bringing thriller elements to an even broader range of genres. His other interests include biopics, historical epics, adventure, the supernatural, and science fiction. In addition, his many years of experience working in the publishing industry are an asset when adapting novels and long‐form non‐fiction.

Before becoming a writer, Dan enjoyed a successful career in trade book publishing. He spent a combined seven years at Doubleday and Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. While there, he served on the editorial teams that helped bring many notable books to market including John Grisham’s THE FIRM, Richard Price’s CLOCKERS, and Jim Lovell and Jeffrey Kluger’s LOST MOON, which became the Ron Howard film APOLLO 13. Dan eventually transitioned to a prosperous career as a digital marketing strategist. After leaving trade book publishing, he spent many years working in other industries and led digital marketing initiatives for companies such as Citizen, Dun & Bradstreet, RCN, and Bristol-Myers Squibb. He currently works as an independent digital marketing consultant, a role which allows him the freedom to continue writing.

In his free time, Dan has also achieved success in live theater. He served for ten years as a producer and director on the board of an acclaimed New Jersey theater company. He co‐produced over 25 plays and musicals, and his directing credits include productions such as DRIVING MISS DAISY, HOLLYWOOD ARMS, and ELTON JOHN & TIM RICE'S AIDA. He has won numerous awards for his theater producing, directing and sound design.
