Written by: Stanley Kubrick and Diane Johnson; based on the novel by: Stephen King
Directed by: Stanley Kubrick
Hosted by Phil Rosenthal, Phil’s Movie Night at the State Theatre will feature special guest Leon Vitali for this Halloween screening and event. Leon Vitali worked with writer/director Stanley Kubrick for many years, first as an actor on Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon (Lord Bullingdon), then on The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, and Eyes Wide Shut as his assistant, casting director, and dialogue coach, while also doing laboratory work and location scouting. He acted as well in Eyes Wide Shut (as “Red Cloak”). Vitali worked on Kubrick’s films in marketing and advertising for world-wide TV and video markets and served as a liaison between Kubrick and production offices all over the world. He was also the sole overseer of film to DVD and Blue Ray transfers of Kubrick’s films after his passing in March, 1999. Following the film, Rosenthal will lead a discussion with Vitali, delving into his experience throughout pre-production and the shooting period on the set and post production of
The Shining, including the casting of Danny Lloyd, (one of 4,000 boys Vitali interviewed and auditioned throughout the Midwest of America).
Reminiscent of the legendary Phil’s Movie Nights in LA, AFF will be hosting a special pre-screening reception with light bites provided by Ranch 616 and special guests Phil Rosenthal and Leon Vitali in attendance. Space at the reception is limited and available only to Producers Badge Holders who secured advance sign-up tickets in advance. Get all 8 days of film for only $65 with a Film Pass!
