Return of the Screenwriter: Prequels, Sequels, and Trilogies

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Your writing assignment: take a story with a pre-established foundation and craft the next part. Easy, right? After all, you already have a developed world and ensemble of characters—how hard can it be?! Take another guess. Writing a prequel, sequel, or “threequel” requires ample research and preparation in order to breathe new life into old ideas while continuing the momentum moving forward. Screenwriters will converse about the challenges of life-after-the-originals, as well as the difference between trying your hand at multiple installments within a series or picking up where someone else left off.
