Breaking the Mold: Diversity in the Industry

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

A glaring trend in the industry is the lack of representation of females and minorities: onscreen, as writers, behind the camera, on the business end, you name it. This trend has been acknowledged and lamented over and over again, and yet are things really changing all that much? On the business side for instance, according to the WGA yearly report, women’s and minority’s share of executive producer positions in television has actually declined in the past year. So, we all agree it’s a problem, nothing to discuss there. What can be discussed, however, are the possible solutions. Our panelists, representing all corners of the industry, talk about their personal experience with these trends, and what they believe can be done to increase the presence of women and minorities in the industry.
