A Conversation with Charles Burnett

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Sit down for a conversation with writer, director, and producer Charles Burnett, of whom’s work New York Times film critic A.O. Scott once said “is an indelible reminder of what real independence looks like.” Listen as Burnett discusses his storied career in independent film, from his neo-realist classic Killer of Sheep (1978) to My Brother’s Wedding (1983) and To Sleep With Anger (1990), as well as his various projects in television and documentary films. Hailed as a visionary director and an important voice for African-American cinema, Burnett’s works often tackle the complex themes of race, family, and identity without resorting to stereotypes or clichés. This is a conversation you don’t want to miss.
